Washington voters face proposed exclusion of trans girls from school sports
Washington Initiative 26-638 would exclude trans girls from girls-only school athletic competitions and require a healthcare provider statement verifying sex for students seeking to participate. The legislature took no action on the initiative, sending it to the November general-election ballot. These requirements remain a proposal, not current law. They threaten trans students participation and impose an additional verification burden on girls seeking to play. Colorado ballot proposals were previously covered by TransEscape; this report adds the Washington measure.
