UNDP Kenya report identifies gaps in trans health and safety data

Kenya

UNDP Kenya has published its 2026 LGBTI Inclusion Index, documenting major gaps in the evidence available to guide inclusion policy. Of 51 indicators, 39 had supporting evidence and 12 lacked sufficient or nationally representative evidence. The report says transgender people appear in HIV surveillance, while national data on gender-affirming care and several other health needs remain absent. It also describes discrimination and gaps in violence monitoring. These figures measure evidence completeness, not a country performance ranking. Making trans people visible in public data is necessary for accountable services and protections.
