Turkish lawyer reports prolonged detention and healthcare barriers for trans prisoners
Lawyer İdil Arslanbaş told Bianet on October 26 that more than 80 people remained detained across five investigations following September’s anti-LGBTI operations. The lawyer reported that 18 trans women were held in İzmir and 23 in Mersin, and described delayed medical access, dosage corrections, strip searches and discriminatory treatment. These are attributed accounts, not independently established judicial findings. The interview adds current detention and healthcare information to the earlier crackdown reporting; it should not be combined with the separate October 24 arrest total.
