Spektra challenges Montenegro gender-recognition barriers as Pride calls for equality
Montenegro
Portal ETV reported on October 2 that Asocijacija Spektra filed an Ombudsman complaint over alleged continuing violations of trans people’s rights in legal gender recognition. Spektra says the Interior Ministry requires proof of sterilization despite no explicit statutory requirement, and seeks an investigation into discriminatory administrative practice.
The complaint is not an Ombudsman ruling or a change in law. The following day, Montenegro Pride marched peacefully in Podgorica, according to the government; reporting on the march describes demands for recognition without forced medical procedures. Trans people deserve accurate documents without coerced medical treatment.
