NHS England hospital guidance threatens trans patients’ dignity and access
NHS England published replacement hospital-accommodation guidance on October 15. GCN reports that it directs accommodation by sex registered at birth, with gender-neutral options and individual clinical decisions. Such restrictions risk outing trans patients and deterring care. Royal Devon confirms the publication and says it is reviewing local implications; staff should continue current Trust procedures during that review. Trans people deserve safe, dignified treatment. National guidance and local implementation must be distinguished; immediate changes at every hospital are not established.
