New Hampshire families challenge federal Medicaid cuts to trans youth care
Four New Hampshire families filed a federal lawsuit on October 1 challenging the Trump administration’s restriction on Medicaid and CHIP funding for gender-affirming youth care, according to the ACLU of New Hampshire, which represents them alongside GLAD Law and the National Center for LGBTQ Rights.
The families seek court protection before the rule’s scheduled October 13 effective date. Their lawyers say the funding cutoff threatens ongoing medically necessary treatment for young people in low-income families. The announcement reports a filing, not an injunction or restored funding. Trans youth deserve continuity of care regardless of their families’ income.
