Irish trans healthcare campaign reports 2,200 signatures demanding reform

Ireland

GCN reported on October 2 that an updated open letter coordinated by Transgress the NGS had reached 2,200 signatures, including more than 50 organizations. The campaign asks Ireland’s health minister and HSE to include trans people as equal collaborators in developing the new model of care and to use informed consent.

The group raises concerns about clinicians advising GPs against blood tests for people accessing hormones through alternative routes. Those concerns remain attributed to the campaign. The minister has described a patient-centred, evidence-based development process; a final model and improved access are not established by this announcement. Trans patients deserve timely care and meaningful participation.
