ILGA-Europe reports urgent protection needs for LGBTI asylum seekers in Ceuta

Spain

ILGA-Europe reported on October 5 that at least 126 LGBTI people in Ceuta remained in urgent need of assistance. Its account describes homelessness, threats and assaults, including a trans woman who linked an alleged military assault after expulsion from a reception centre to her identity. These are attributed testimonies and partner reports, not adjudicated findings.

The organization called for safe accommodation, individual protection assessments and effective asylum access. Its warning about a proposed seven-day asylum deadline does not establish that the proposal became law. Trans asylum seekers deserve protection from abuse and returns to persecution.
