Dominican trans groups convene rights and services dialogue
Dominican Republic
TRANSSA and the Trans People Human Rights Observatory held a September 17 discussion in Santo Domingo with activists, civil society, government institutions, and international-cooperation participants. The organizers reported barriers to healthcare, education, employment, and justice for LGBTI people, including trans people.
Participants discussed better public data, staff training, respectful services, and ways to report violations and obtain protection. The source describes proposals and dialogue; it does not report that a new law, service guarantee, or government program took effect.
Trans-led advocacy has brought practical access barriers before public institutions. Those barriers deserve action and follow-through. The Dominican Republic is outside the current 65-country card set, and this meeting alone would not support a numerical country regrade.
