Brazil tribunal ruling leaves Tifanny Abreu excluded from Superliga

Brazil

Brazilian volleyball player Tifanny Abreu has lost permission to play in the 2026-27 Superliga following two October 23 decisions, according to a CBV statement reproduced by Web Volei. The Rio de Janeiro state court suspended her civil injunction on procedural grounds concerning exhaustion of sports-justice remedies. Separately, the volleyball sports tribunal unanimously rejected her petition. These decisions enforce exclusion under the federation eligibility policy; they do not establish a final civil-court judgment on the policy merits. The exclusion threatens her professional livelihood. ANTRA has challenged the policy as discriminatory and questioned its scientific justification.
