Appeals court hears renewed challenge to trans woman’s sorority membership
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit has heard a renewed challenge to Kappa Kappa Gamma’s decision to admit a transgender woman to its University of Wyoming chapter. The dispute asks whether the private sorority’s governing council may interpret its bylaws’ use of “woman” to include transgender women.
The case was submitted after oral argument, and no ruling has been issued. The hearing does not change Wyoming law or the student’s membership status, so Wyoming’s state scores remain unchanged. A later controlling decision could require a new review of legal protections and community access.
